Mama, I Need Help From a Criminal

Guess the song reference in the title of this post. Go on, I dare ya!

http://bit.ly/rC4XMr
From this video, the news proves that celebrities have difficulties with proving to our twisted judicial system that we need assistance when it comes to stalking. The big surprise is when we have to turn to the criminals for said help when our voices aren't heard by the courts. Ask Selena Gomez.

The Internet is Ruined? Take the Time to Save it!

There has been talk of a proposed bill that, deemed unconstitutional to most forums users, could end the Internet as we know it. If there's anyone not in the know about the news, the word is out about a proposed bill that can place bloggers, vloggers, and many other composers of websites such as thatguywiththeglasses.com and the big media giant YouTube. Today marks American Censorship Day when everyone take a stand against this bill that can place anyone in prison, for example, singing a cover of a popular hit song. There's a friend, along with many other wannabe celebrities, that will oppose and fight against this injustice until the bill is sliced and diced like Nagini by the Sword of Godric Gryffindor. To get your voice out there in an effort to stop an action that goes against what America has stood for many generations, take the opportunity to follow the directions provided on this site: http://americancensorship.org/. This bill will be crushed by the hands of the people along with the businesses that will be affected by it. The country is already dealing with spite from those who continue to fight for more available jobs. Let's prevent it from going through more hell.

The Prize Hidden Inside

Rather than a Pizza Party or a visit from a local celebrity to reward students for good grades, a local school decided that it would put the trust in a Chinese manufacturer to provide them with snap bracelets. What the students didn't know was the real prize inside of them. Opinion about the story will be posted later. For now, it's study time for me.

Scorsese's 'Hugo' is the Best Live-Action 3D Film Ever? Hardly.

I don't waste my time with 3D films. I take it back. I don't like wasting my time with seeing films that don't need the 3D effect to capture the interest of seeing them from the people . Now cinemablend.com declares that Martin Scorsese's newest family flick for the holidays, is. quoting from the article title, "the best live action 3D ever". After reading it, one thought comes to mind. What about James Cameron's epic space mission where the search for a fictional element leads into a disabled soldier becoming one with the community of blue monkey-cat people? Screw it.

Looking back at the first trailer for Hugo, Scorsese's "masterpiece", I never had the interest in seeing it. The music, comedic scenes and the dialogue didn't help. The teaser made the film as cheesy as that of the new film We Bought a Zoo. Yes, it's a real title for a movie. Are the holidays going to be filled with indigestible turds? I thought a month ago that the rest of Fall was slightly horrendous. After seeing Real Steel, having early interest with seeing The Thing, and still mixed about whether or not I should take the plunge with Puss in Boots, the rest of the season, so far, isn't promising. Late December looks to be a blast, but Hugo will still hang above me like a thought of self doubt when thinking about whether or not I should continue to push forward with my future career. I might see the film if curiosity peaks like it has in the past. For now, the film looks to be as promising as The Muppets in November. Just expect a lot of tykes than me with that one.

Cheap Tragedy: The Exploitation of 9/11

During this time, we, the people, have gone through many tragedies especially in the first decade of the 21st century. The most popular of them all was 9/11 which has been brought to general audiences in many ways including film. It's been a while since we had one that focused about the events after the terrorist attacks, but the popularity of the event has been beaten into our heads repeatedly including the recent coverage of its 10th anniversary. It has also been used as a cheap method to make us have emotion for certain characters in films. In Remember Me, one of the many Rob Pattinson films that failed to impress audiences in theaters, the set-up as to how the tragedy is used is too long to explain. The result is we're supposed to cry for the loss of Pattinson's character since he also have gone through many losses throughout the film and no longer having to deal with feeling alone or angry when he begins his relationship with a woman who also has been going through some trials of her own. However, using the tragedy to set up his demise was, again, a cheap trick since there is the possibility that the writers could not think of another way for him to go and end the film.

Recently, the trailer and poster for the movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close premiering on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks as a father who also died during this tragedy. According to Spill.com (trailer can be found on Apple.com), his son who has a lot on his plate including his long list of future occupations, is sent on a journey through the city to discover a message left behind his late father that will open up a wider explanation of what goes on in the world.

I wonder why 9/11 continue to be the major selling point to drive the point that, for those who didn't lose any relatives or who didn't die themselves, we made it through this ordeal. Having us to remember it hurts. Some of us wish that the attacks didn't happen. We wish that the day was all a bad dream even though it really happened and will forever be a part of the history books forever. I believe that we should be free from having movies, unless they're documentaries, and other forms of media to repeatedly remind us to Remember 9/11. We also wish that this should happen every time we hear about the signs of times leading to the End of the World. If next year doesn't turn out to be like Roland Emmerich's fantasy or what we've seen so far with a zombie apocalypse in Zombieland and The Walking Dead, it goes to show that Hollywood, book companies, and record labels will continue to make bank from our worry and pain.

I'm Too Pretty For My Shirt. No, It's Not a Song

I can't believe this. Here we are in 2011 where some graphic t-shirts that mention us being lazy or not being interested with bad relationships are okay with being sold in stores yet this shirt (look below) is no longer in stores.

The big controversy surrounding the Interwebs about what people wear is all about a graphic t-shirt that was originally sold in J.C. Penney but was removed from stores because of something that would be seen in TV shows. The message being 'I'm Too Pretty to Do Homework So My Brother Has to Do
It For Me'. (Long message, I know.) has made people go into detail about how women don't have to "play dumb in order to be popular". If that's the case, why do we have those same characters, as mentioned before, on TV? Is it because they're easier to handle when it comes to making a show funny? If so many complaints were enough to remove this shirt out of sight, though it will exist for all etnerity because this is the Internet, we surely can bring more thrr-dimensional female characters rathrer than the archetypes we have to deal with every day especially with children's programming.

London Tipton says, "Yay Me! I'm Having a Baby!"

This was a complete surprise to me and anyone else who have been fans of these stars especially the ex-Tipton Hotel socialite. Since her graduation aboard the now non-existing S.S. Tipton, London Tipton's popping out some babies. So far, she's having her first one. The baby's father in question is a washed up singer who haven't made a good song in years. History about these two is slim besides dating Sonny Monroe and Joe Jonas who ended up together who later broke up only for them to work on separate solo projects. Just goes to show that everyone's really close within the Disney family. The only question is who will she name her first child. If it's a girl, the name's truly obvious. If it's a boy, I recommend Zack or Cody. Good thing that the baby will be born within royalty to avoid having a poor girl name. Can't think of any except Maddie. I wonder why?

'Conan's in for a 'Fright'

It's been a while since writing about a new film. The thinking process needed time to rejuvenate and it's back in business. First flick to cover: Conan the Barbarian (2011).

For people who may not have heard about the titular character, Conan's (Jason Momoa) a Cimmerian searching for his village's attackers from the time when he was a young boy. Even at a young age, he was able to handle men twice his height and bring their heads home as his reward. Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang) and his daughter Marique (Rose McGowan) filled with magical detection abilities are organizing a ritual that will allow a long lost member of the family return to the world of the living by inhabiting the body of a True Blood. Along with freeing slaves and torturing members of Zym's calvary to find his adversary, it's up to Conan to fulfill the duty of protecting said True Blood (not a fan of HBO's acclaimed TV series), a female monk named Tamara (Rachel Nichols), to stop said ritual, and keep the world safe from any more blood shed. Then again, he'll have to cause some to make his point of getting his revenge against Zym clear.

The film's a mixed bag. While it has received a lot of hate, the film's enjoyable. Portions of the film such as whether or not Zym's daughter is into her father to fill the hole left in his heart from his wife's passing, Marique creating warriors out of mystical sand to take down our muscle bound hero, Conan vs. the Kraken, and a random sex scene just to bridge a romance between Conan and Tamara might be viewed as unneeded, but, if forgotten, the rest of the films enjoyable. You can forgive the film with its use of green screen backgrounds, easily notable, but more location scouting wouldn't have hurt the film. It would have given a stronger feel of being within Conan's world. With a budget of $90 million, the film's not shaping up to be a hit, but it's still watchable whether in theaters, on TV, and to watch on DVD and Blu-Ray. From there, perhaps the love from some of the fans of the 'Conan' character will be enough to assist it with making its money back. That can take a while.

Up next to review: Fright Night (2011).

Lopez Won't Be On 'Tonight'; 'Tyler Perry TV' Coming Soon?

For those who loved the antics of everyone's favorite ethnic comedian, there's bad news. Lopez Tonight has been canceled.

http://on-msn.com/qo1r55

 ¿Por qué?

The reason for the cancellation of this show is what? Time to pull it out! Time for the Almighty, Old-School

Who wants to bet that, behind closed doors, there was a feud between the network executives and Mr. Lopez. There has to be a valid reason about why the series is receiving this sudden cancelation. While not a watcher of his series day after day, from what was seen, Lopez delivered the laughs while doubling them up from reruns from his hit sitcom on Nick @ Nite. Looking at the ratings, the prediction is that they're fine unless TBS was expecting an increase from the Hispanic community. With him gone, save for the mentioned reruns, who will step into the shoes of being the next big late-night talk show host? I hope that it’s not Tyler Perry. He has gone through that phase before and won’t return to it unless he has a new film that he has written, produced/co-produced, starred, and directed. It’s already bad enough that rumors have begun about him having his own network. Think this is a rumor? Think again.

http://on-msn.com/pcX4PQ

Let me guess on who gave him the cash.

What will appear on his network that hasn’t been on others before directed toward the African-American community? More reruns of One on One? The Proud Family? Good Times? It was like Lionsgate failed to think about BET and TVOne as the channels delivering what the execs running those networks think that we will watch. If people thought that bringing back Conan the Barbarian without California's former governor was a mistake, try 24 hours of nothing but mind numbing TV with unfunny comedy, stereotypical characters, and, even if classics such as the already mentioned Good Times will appear, is it too early to ask for the return of Fat Albert? Not the live-action/animated film. Just the animated series. It'll be better than seeing Oscar Proud get treated unfairly by his family every episode or looking back to Good Times and becoming angry because someone's parents have seen every episode to the point of annoyance when they prevent their children from changing the channel to watch them all again.

If anything has to get canceled, can it be The Playboy Club? It's NBC being the new MTV thinking that a show with risque themes will rule the roost with ratings on weekday evenings. The show's already not going to be shown in a few affiliates. Why can't the show die or move to basic cable with the likes of HBO and Showtime's programming? Men out here don't want to see any of the action edited especially when it comes to the women.

Also, a little update: Be prepared for a flurry of film reviews including those from last month to keep everyone busy as this writer prepares to return back to school in the Fall.

Where to Take Your Date

I may not have been on a lot of dates, but I know that most couples have had dates at the locations listed in the posted link as the worst to take a future boy/girlfriend. Who would deny that cheering for your favorite team is better than sitting through a crummy film? Who wouldn't enjoy a nice ride on the Ferris Wheel hand in hand? I understand why some women won't come near any of the locations such as preventing from having a queasy stomach and dealing with annoying fans painted from head to toe representing their football team. What do you consider to be the best place to take a date? Perhaps the explanations about why they're great are better than what's seen below.

My Vow: To Sink Alien Ships and Cliched Romance Films

YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP!!

Question: Will you see the newest Michael Bay film next year? Bay has no involvement with the film, but you can see some references to his past works. If you haven't played the game that inspired the film, don't worry. There'll be a 3DS version in the works soon.

Also, there's some romance drama in the works if you're into that sort of thing.

Jaywalk and Your Mom's Going to Prison

A mother going to jail after her son is killed jaywalking is confusing and ridiculous. Why?! Was she the one driving the car to kill him on purpose? Read the story for yourself and see if you can make any sense about this. As said by one commenter, the person behind the wheel gets away with the crime. As for this poor woman, being cooped up behind bars for three years is unnecessary.

New TeenNick TV Block is 'All That'

Ah, the '90's: the time where kids would wake up to watch a plethora of Saturday Morning cartoons on the alphabet networks. It was also a time when no one thought about straight to DVD films and cash-ins (Damn Disney and its unnecessary Lion King re-release in 3D). It's been a decade which has been hated upon by fellow film critics (Guess for yourself) and one that's fondly remembered for being the time when cable networks, such as Nickelodeon, didn't rely so heavily on an ADHD sponge working at a burger joint or three tweens working on a webcam show in repetition to gain ratings. It wasn't a network that have dug down to the bottom of the barrel to deliver great content to children to the point of picking up 4Kids' scraps to continue being the #1 Network for Kids.

Viacom have thrown the fans a bone with their new scheduling block entitled 'The '90's Are All That' with the first of many series from the famous decade being shown from midnight to 2am. With the long list of series (in the link below), adults who are children at heart will have many choices to choose from to help them sleep better in preparation for the next day. It can even make good times with friends much better with looking back to see how far TV has come and becoming embarrassed to some of the series that still stink up the airwaves. However, all isn't well.

A few shows are missing from this block, but no worries. Let the man behind the operation handle everything: by informing everyone to go online and comment about what they would like to see in this block. It's a shame that it's the ONLY answer as the questions from the posted story are thrown at the Senior VP and Gen. Manager are mowed down one by one. This man is a warrior. To repeat his replies, head over to Facebook, Twitter and 90sareallthat.com to let him and the company know your thoughts.

If you excuse me, I need to pick up some orange soda to go along with my orange couch with my dog Porkchop by my side. Can't miss the fun later this evening/early Tuesday morning.

No Longer in Rehab; Comic-Con 2011 Rage

What can this blogger say about Ms. Winehouse and news about her death? Is it the fact that he has never listened to any of her other songs other than, what he calls her one-hit wonder “Rehab”? Maybe he can talk about how she could have saved herself from getting involved with drugs by not being with the wrong people and staying in rehab though she had cancelled performances just because of her getting assistance to combat her addiction? Dying so young is heartbreaking. Then again, I feel sorry for the families who have lost their loved ones younger than that age than a celebrity. Think about it. Almost every day, we hear about another celebrity trying to stay away from the drugs, alcohol, or another full-time relationship. This news is a shock, but it’s also nothing new. R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. Your music touched so many people even if I’m not a big fan of your work. Maybe I’ll give the other songs a listen.

I’m disgusted with G4’s coverage of Comic-Con 2011 so far. Besides growing tired of seeing more slave Leias along with Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight with Batman: Arkham Asylum, hearing a reporter asking attendees if some people pinched their bums increased a lot of rage. The reporter could have created better questions to ask them such as how long it took the attendees to create said costumes and the reasons why they became the characters (that were asked as of now), and their likes/dislikes about the panels. If I was at Comic-Con, I would have done a much better job with getting as much coverage about new films, comic books, and other forms of media. I would also get as many photos that would rival the Otakon 2011 albums (on Facebook since August 2010; coming to Flickr). Speaking of conventions, there will be coverage of Otakon 2011 mostly all photos if not news straight from the panels. Checking out the cosplayers is much better than sitting on the bum listening to professionals from anime licensors, fashion designers, and others discuss about future releases, trips to Japan, and popular Japanese fashions trends. If only I had an iPad, maybe coverage from the panels would hit the web much, much faster.

Borders Bookstores R.I.P. 1933-2011

It's official: the unemployment lines will be a bit longer this fall. Also, with the rise in e-books along with sales of purchases of the Nook and iPad, Borders will no longer satisfy people in need for a good book. Barnes and Noble along with local book stores, not many, will be the only sources of literature. It's a shame for we, as a people, have depended on technology so much that we've forgotten about the days when we would search for manga titles that weren't found anywhere else. While most stores have already shut down due to the failing economy, this marks the end of an era. Beginning in 1933, Borders, along with Waldenbooks, have provided customers with books of all ages of all kinds. With this move, over 10,700 people will become jobless and have to scrap with others to make sure that they're paid weekly/bi-weekly. Why couldn't anyone put a bid on the company, Borders Group Inc., to keep it alive for a few more years? Idiots.

Demi's 'Skyscraper' Rises, Black's 'Moment' Falls

How could this piece of info. slip my mind? Attention everyone! Remember waaay back when a young 14-year old Rebecca Black hit YouTube with her critically slammed song 'Friday'? Looks like that, despite the hate, she's back with an all-new song. Her new song's entitled 'My Moment' and, based on the title of the article posted in the link, it's great. Do you think so?

Summary of the Song from Link: “My Moment” is a song about Rebecca’s rocky road to stardom. Not everyone was instantly sold on the teenager’s vocals, and the lyrics of “Friday” were certainly also to target, forcing Rebecca to face seriously cruel criticism in the form of YouTube comments."

Link to the article about the video: http://bit.ly/rsaiLK

Mini-Review: The song sounds like it's on repeat a few times such as the repetitiveness of 'my moment' as if audiences couldn't tell the name of the song by the article and by hearing it once/twice. Also, does anyone think about this video when listening to the music? It sounds very familiar. (see below) The music could also be a remixed version of the background music from Black's first song. Either way, looks like Ark Factory learned a lot from Linkin Park and Nickelback when creating these tunes.

For a girl Rebecca's age, the lyrics are also a bit juvenile. "Haters said 'I'll see you later'" is one example of a lyric that was quickly written in a quick hurry. It was made to attract her age demographic due to how the kids talk these days , however, the song should have needed lyrics that are a bit stronger and expressed more of Black's growth and determination to make it in the music industry. Demi Lovato, on the other hand, has already taken the world by storm with her new single 'Skyscraper' which is at number nine on the Top Singles chart on iTunes but describes her life post her treatment of bipolar disorder. Perhaps Black can take pointers from Ms. Lovato and not just to have a life-changing struggle to inspire her. Maybe it's not a bad idea.

Here's Lovato's 'Skyscraper'!

'Hugo's Off to Disappointing Start

Watching the Hugo trailer, thoughts, more like questions, will come into your head. Are they good or bad? It depends on what was running through the head if not the methods left to use to get a ticket to the midnight screening of the final Harry Potter movie. (Review of said film is coming later this weekend.)

·    Is it me or is Paramount trying to copy the grandiose of the first Legend of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga’Hoole trailer?

·         Is that Jude Law as the kid’s father?

·         Evil family member taking in young orphan boy only for them to not see eye to eye? Seen it.

This film isn’t going to be a steampunk adventure?!

·         Will we care for Chloe Moretz years from now? She’s cute but her choice of movies has been a bit static. This may not be her best ones, but she’ll have better films in the future….I hope.

·         Why is Scorsese trying so hard to remain relevant to today’s audiences who rather watch a movie with an overrated gimmick caked over it than seeing one without one? The trailer tries too hard to advertise the film as, yet another, ‘3D adventure the likes no one has ever seen before and no one will see again….until the creation of 4D comes to play WITHOUT the silly use of Smell-o-Vision.

·         Is anyone wishing that the film was a continuation of the Harry Potter series? It’s been a while since anyone rode on the Hogwart’s Express.

·         Is the film worth my time and money?

·         Sir Ben Kingsley in another family film? It can go either the way of Thunderbirds or that of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. (Both failed to excite audiences and collect back their budgets) At least this film won’t be The Love Guru.

For people who haven’t watched any of Scorsese’s classics, or read the book this film is based on, they might be easily amused by the trailer. While 2011 is already a year filled with too much metal banging into each other (Real Steel’s on its way), add this one to the heap. Now that a few more seconds passed on the trailer, theirs is disappointment. Giant robots are absent but Sacha Baron Cohen’s unfunny slapstick and dog reactions to him are endless. Magic’s in the air, but the feeling’s not there or even within this writer’s heart. Until another trailer gives more information about the plot, unless we end up reading the book to gain the same feeling Scorsese had when creating this film, the film’s promotion is already at a bad start. If it continues, can we expect a new contender for ‘Worst Adaptation of a Book Made in 3D’? Someone from PR and Advertising deserves to be fired.

Cry No More: Kids Under 6 Banned from Restaurant

At McDonald's, people are loving the tasty Big Macs and snacking on the chicken nuggets with a side salad on the side. At Burger King, people can have any of their meals their way even if it's stealing meal ideas from its competition. At Chik-fil-a, the staff deliver the food ordered by the customers with friendly smiles and warm presences. It's a shame to those families with children under the age of six that McDain's in Monroeville, PA can't be in the same family as those acclaimed restaurants. Beginning July 16, a policy will go into effect as an effect of crying children interrupting meal time according to a few patrons. Sure I understand about children being noisy and rude due to their cries of wanting to be changed to simple temper tantrums. The fault should go to the parents who, in some cases due to personal experience while eating, don't succeed with disciplining them. It's embarrassing to see one parent spank a child in order for him to behave, however if he acts up, rather than taking him to the restroom to show him how he/she'll cause the child to cry real tears, the parent, along with the child/children should just walk from their table (s) and leave. Simple as that. When it comes to babies, it's common that they're cry. It gets annoying fast, but that's the communication process until they learn how to talk.

Babies shouldn't be barred from joining the family to a family night out unless he/she's too young to eat solid food thus having to resort to eating baby foods of all kinds. The young kids between the ages of about 3-6 should walk up and leave at the same time as the adults as stated above. A snag into the planned policy are children with special needs who have also been appearing in many a movie screening with minor complaint. Those children have to stay with their parents no matter what. While it's unclear about what the manager of the restaurant will have to say about them, he's going to face against angry parents, grandparents, etc. from the family day after day until the policy is proven to be a failure and allow children of all ages to get their chance to enjoy warm, stomach-filling meals.

'The Dark Knight Rises with Holmes in Tow'

Here it is ladies and gents, the teaser poster for The Dark Knight Rises. While the poster looks legit, keep in mind that the images can change. If the final product is released in theaters later this year, it will be proof that this photo's not a lie.
